Past. Present. Future.
"The writers fail to see the human lives that challenge binaries imposed by cis-brahmanical patriarchy and how we struggle to fight for rights in a world that is largely divided by caste and gender binaries."
When we speak of Art specifically, it is a tool that enables the audiences to connect and reconnect with these core identities that make a person into a whole.
I interviewed Ms. Risha. She is a transwoman and she recognizes herself as a lesbian.
In 1970, David Bowie released his third album called "The Man Who Sold the World." On the record cover, Bowie is pictured reclining on a chaise longue with long wavy hair and wearing a long velvet dress, dubbed the "man dress."
As I have been deeply invested in exploring the ropes of sexuality, gender and expressions, it has become more than just an academic professional discourse for me. As a writer and a social media activist, it is important that I educate each and every person in the right ways. This doesn't imply that I am fully educated in this area. With every post and every story, I learn something new. I am reading different books and watching documentaries to make sure that I know all the sides to the spectrum
Sen. Kamala Harris achieved a boundless title of Vice Presidentship. While we all have perspectives about her ideologies and scope for her nation. It is very important to understand that she represents an array of communities and cultures. Her being an important symbolic figure gives a lot of people hope and an established feeling of unity of overlapping social identities.
She was influenced beautifully by her family.
“We tend to talk about race inequality as separate from inequality based on gender, class, sexuality or immigrant status. What’s often missing is how some people are subject to all of these, and the experience is not just the sum of its parts,” said by Kimberle Crenshaw who coined the term 'intersectionality' in the year 1989.
She talks about how we must include all the overlapping social inequalities in the mainstream arena. There shouldn't be a privileged dominance of one singular issue.
The photo-series collage that you see above, is a small scale initiative to take a step towards intersectional feminism. This initiative hash-tagged #justiceformalvika #hathrasgangrape #balrampurcase was started out by Simran Khandelwal and it is still running.
What I’m really countering is what I call “man hands”; the fact that, for a woman’s body to be considered of value it needs to go through the hands of a man — artist, photographer, modeling agency. That’s a relationship of power, and I want to know if it can all be one: Can a woman take on both sides of the power relationship?
It is paramount for us to understand that male dominance has been a part of our everyday lives since the inception of time. For centuries together, women have been comprehended through the "eyes of a man". Most of the genius records held by the women pioneers were mostly recorded in names of their husbands, fathers or brothers for the legacy to continue in a man's name.
Online Dating holds a huge significance when it comes to dating while identifying as queer. Online dating is almost edging onto something quite revolutionary that has further uplifted so many people from the LGBT Community to come out of their closets. The revolutionary aspect of it was taken up by Ritviz in his recent team up with Tinder in the launching of a music video that sent out an extremely important message on the acceptance of the community through dating. The music video portrays that not all revolution has to be negative or has to cause some kind of a disruption, the revolutionary aspect of this video is actually quite beautiful and touching.
The Inevitable Taboo:
Female orgasms have been a taboo for a while predominantly in the South-Asian parts of the world. The consequences have shunned down the "moans" (pun intended) of the women from all over the world and fake orgasms have taken over the counter. While it is no one's fault, but it is definitely a domino effect because the women who want to talk about it even in a private space, are ignored. This is because, when the majority tells you that a thing like "female orgasm" doesn't exist or it is a sin to even think about it, it plays a domino effect on the generations of young women thereafter.
You can hate yourself all your life for these "faults" or you can smile at them every now and then. Because, if you decide to smile now, maybe someone else will too and there will come a day when you wake up fresh out of bed and another person is smiling into the mirror along with you.
